"Stock-taking" or "inventory checking" or "wall-to-wall" is the physical verification of the quantities and condition of items held in an inventory or warehouse.

This may be done to provide an audit of existing stock. It is also the source of stock discrepancy information.

Each business has it's own cadence of doing these periodic stock taking. Moreover, it can also vary b/w different products.

Preparing for the stocktake

  • Have the correct equipment – Weighing scales, clipboard and paper, uniform including white coat, gloves and hat.
  • Ensure that all fridges, freezers and other storage units are clean and are easily accessible with labels facing out
  • All stock is identifiable

With that been said, head over to Stock taking guide to learn how it is done in Prime.
